Isothermal model of step piston type series pulse tube refrigerator

Abstract:A step piston series pulse tube refrigerator includes several cold heads which are connected in series and driven by a step piston compressor with multiple compression volumes. Each compression volume connects one cold head, supplying input power and acting as phase shifter for the preceding cold head. The expansion power of the preceding cold head is further utilized as the input power for the subsequent cold head. It is one of the solutions for getting high refrigeration efficiency with large cooling power. An isothermal model is introduced to analyze the input power and phase relationships in the refrigerator.
